- HOUSTON, January 2012 – Eighty-five fixed base operators formerly with Exxon have joined the Phillips 66 Aviation network of branded dealers, the nation’s largest.
The expansion of the Phillips 66 Aviation network heralds the beginning of the aviation pioneer’s 85th year providing fuel, lubricants and support programs to the general aviation industry.
The 85 former Exxon FBOs add a significant West Coast presence to the Phillips 66 Aviation network, which now offers pilots and flight departments 866 branded dealers nationwide.
World Fuel Services will serve all of the newest members of Phillips 66 Aviation network. World Fuel markets, sells and distributes aviation, marine and land fuel products in more than 200 countries and territories.
“Having 85 Exxon sites join our branded network is the culmination of a collaborative relationship between World Fuel and Phillips 66 Aviation,” explains Rick Duste, Director, Branded Sales for Phillips 66 Aviation.
The expansion of the Phillips 66 Aviation network bolsters the oil company’s 85-year dedication to general aviation at a time when other major oil companies are scaling back their general aviation commitments. ExxonMobil last year announced it will cease providing general aviation fuels in North America.
“This collaboration between World Fuel and Phillips 66 supports our intent to strengthen our West Coast presence, to brand more general aviation sites, while World Fuel will service those accounts,” says Duste. “The former Exxon dealers now have the full range of Phillips 66 Aviation business-building programs at their disposal. We believe it’s a win-win, particularly for the new FBOs and their customers.”
The lengthy list of Phillips 66 FBO programs includes the WingPoints® Rewards Program, which rewards repeat fuel purchases; Partners-Into-Plane contract fuel, the industry’s first pre-approved fuel program; a corporate credit card accepted at more than 7,500 locations; and a host of other offerings such as the Phillips 66 national refueler fleet program.
Duste says that pilots, schedulers and flight departments will benefit from the expansion of the Phillips 66 Aviation-branded dealer network.
“The WingPoints Rewards Card can now be offered at FBOs coast-to-coast, giving pilots, schedulers and dispatchers greater opportunities to be rewarded for their loyalty,” Duste says. WingPoints are be immediately accumulated with every fuel purchase, with points redeemable online for gift or debit cards.

- OAKLAND, January 2012 – Business Jet Center Oakland at Oakland International Airport (OAK) has become a Phillips 66® Aviation-branded dealer.
Business Jet Center Oakland joins its sister operation Business Jet Center Dallas, which has been with Phillips 66 Aviation since 1997. Phillips 66 Aviation is the nation’s largest branded aviation dealer network, featuring 866 fixed base operators coast-to-coast.
“We are delighted to have Business Jet Center Oakland join the Phillips 66 Aviation family, as they are one of the premier FBOs in the West,” says Rosemary Leone, Director, Programs, Phillips 66 Aviation. “Both Business Jet Center locations are perennial favorites in annual FBO customer polls. It’s also fitting that Business Jet in Oakland, which operates in the historic, original 1927 Oakland airport terminal, joins Phillips 66 Aviation as we launch our 85th year serving the general aviation industry.”
The Business Jet Center facility in Oakland offers 9,000 square feet of forward-thinking pilot and passenger amenities, while paying homage to the historic importance of the original Oakland airport.
The FBO extensively remodeled the original 1927 terminal at an airport made famous by Charles Lindberg, who dedicated the facility. That same year the airport was also the takeoff point for the Dole prize – aviation’s historic first flight from the mainland to Hawaii across 2,400 miles of Pacific Ocean. Stuntman Art Goebel won the prize in his Woolaroc monoplane – named for the Frank Phillips Ranch and fueled by Phillips Petroleum.
Business Jet Center provides travelers with a hassle-free point of entry to the San Francisco Bay Area, explains Leone, who notes that it takes less time to drive to downtown San Francisco from OAK than from SFO.
“Business Jet Center is proud to become a Phillips 66 dealer,” says Dave Mills, General Manager for Business Jet Center Oakland. “Their programs will help support our mission to provide enthusiastic, unparalleled customer service 24/7, no matter the size of your aircraft.”
The FBO is known for a lengthy list of complimentary services, such as its “Tidy Turn Around,” which offers interior clean up during refueling. There is an executive secured, covered valet parking service, a spacious lobby with complimentary fruit, beverages and fresh-baked cookies, crew sleeping quarters, flat screen televisions, executive conference rooms, a business office for pilots and hangars designed for large aircraft.
Business Jet Center also boasts fast quick-turns with a NATA Safety 1st-certified line crew. “Our turnaround times are uncontestable,” says Mills.

- WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind., November 2011 – Serving the airport where Amelia Earhart prepared
for her round-the-world flight attempt, Lafayette Aviation has joined the Phillips
66® Aviation-branded dealer network.
Lafayette aviation is the sole fixed base operator at the 81-year-old Purdue University
Airport, a national historic site and the second busiest airport in Indiana. The
FBO, owned by Jeff Pittard, participates in all Phillips 66 Aviation dealer programs,
including the WingPoints® Rewards Card that rewards pilots,
plane owners, flight schedulers and dispatchers for fuel purchases.
“Lafayette Aviation is known for expert aircraft maintenance, and we’re proud to
have them as part of our Phillips 66 Aviation network,” says Bruce Youtsey, Regional
Account Manager, Phillips 66 Aviation. “The airport is steeped in aviation legacy,
so it’s appropriate that one of aviation’s original innovators, Phillips 66, is
now fueling flights there.”
An hour northwest of Indianapolis, Lafayette Aviation provides oxygen service, flight
training, hangars, and aircraft rental, in addition to a pilot’s lounge and passenger
terminal.
With Lafayette Aviation now a Phillips 66 FBO, the Purdue University Airport has
come full circle, so to speak, with one of the industry’s legendary companies. In
1935, altitude pioneer Wiley Post – whose record-setting flight attempts were funded
by Phillips Petroleum founder Frank Phillips – descended from the Indiana skies
to make an emergency landing at the Purdue airport.
Post’s breath-stealing landing was recounted in “The Story of Purdue Engineering”
by H.B. Knoll:
(The spectators) saw, actually, a landing made with such skill that they could hardly
believe their eyes. Post looked like a man from Mars in his stratosphere suit and
demanded of student fliers who rushed to his plane, “Get me out of this.” About
40 wing nuts had to be loosened before they could remove his helmet.

- ConocoPhillips Company, the third largest integrated energy company in the United
States, will be awarded the first Corporate Angel Network “Angel of the Year” Award
for outstanding service to cancer patients.
The award will be presented by astronaut Gene Cernan at the annual CAN Charity Benefit
on October 11. The benefit is part of the annual meeting and convention of the National
Business Aviation Association in Las Vegas, NV.
Corporate Angel Network provides transportation to treatment for cancer patients
in empty seats on corporate aircraft. CAN has arranged nearly 40,000 patient flights
since its founding in 1981.
Randall Greene, chairman of Corporate Angel Network, said ConocoPhillips was chosen
for this honor because of the company’s leadership in mixing business activity with
programs of social responsibility. “ConocoPhillips began its support of CAN in 1983,
and since then has flown nearly 6,000 patients to cancer centers best suited to
treat their specific types of cancer,” Greene said.
“We’re proud to be part of Corporate Angel Network and honored to receive this award,”
said Jim Mulva, ConocoPhillips Chairman and CEO. “Corporate Angel does an exceptional
job helping cancer patients across the U.S. obtain transportation to the treatment
they need. ConocoPhillips’ longstanding participation in this remarkable program
stems from a deeply felt commitment to the people in the communities where we live
and work. Our participation also extends the value of our aviation assets and gives
us a very tangible and frequent opportunity to make a difference in the lives of
people in need. ”
Capt. Eugene Cernan, an Apollo 17 astronaut, holds the distinction of being the
last man to leave his footprints on the moon. He is an outspoken advocate of continued
American leadership in human space exploration.
Corporate Angel Network has grown to include 530 participating corporations, six
paid staff, and a team of 50 part-time volunteers who work with patients, physicians,
corporate flight departments, and leading treatment centers to coordinate the medical
travel needs of cancer patients with the flight activity of participating corporations.
