Aar aircraft services – supporting pilots to professional athletes
Will Rogers World Airport is named after the local legendary cowboy and comedian, Will Rogers, who famously said, "You never get a second chance to make a good first impression." The folks at the Phillips 66® Aviation branded FBO, AAR Aircraft Services (AAR), take this mantra to heart, providing outstanding customer service, year after year, and acting as the welcome wagon for those landing in Oklahoma City.
The full-service FBO operates 24/7, 365 days a year, providing an array of FBO services, including fueling and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO). In fact, AAR has the only aircraft maintenance at Will Rogers World Airport, including oxygen service, nitrogen service, wheel assembly replacements, strut services and component replacements.
Newish Facility Still State Of The Art
Six years ago AAR unveiled a new state-of-the-art facility, giving travelers easier access in and out of the airport and the main terminal. The modern, $1.8 million, 6,000-square-foot facility has the capabilities to handle more than 10,000 flight operations annually.
During basketball season, the FBO sees an increase in activity, serving the NBA Oklahoma City Thunder and their opponents, which they’ve done since the team’s existence. No matter who the traveler – professional baller, businessman or recreational pilot – every person that flies in or out is treated like the Thunder’s basketball powerhouse Russell Westbrook. Additionally, AAR handles sports charters for the University of Oklahoma college football and several other sports teams.
Taking Care of Travelers and Taking Care of Their Own
FBO Manager, Chip Smith, has dedicated the last 44 years to working at AAR. When you spend almost half a century in one profession, in one organization, you have a certain level of pride in the workmanship and the quality of service provided to your customers. You also understand the importance of continuing education, especially when it comes to safety training.
As a Phillips 66 branded FBO, AAR takes advantage of the safety training courses provided by Phillips. AAR’s primary focus is to provide a safe environment, and all employees, from line service to customer service, stay current with safety training courses. Line staff have easy access to the NATA Safety 1st PLST online safety training that Phillips provides to all of its branded FBOs. Another FBO resource that AAR utilizes is TrustedFuel.com, Phillips’ online, searchable aviation fuel-handling database that contains training tutorials and videos, forms and equipment information that provides health, safety and environmental guidance.
AAR also supports its employees by providing a flexible work environment, fully supporting individuals who are pursing educational endeavors, from bachelor’s degrees to A&P certifications.
"Our good quality service comes from good quality people," said Smith. "In addition to our employees, Phillips' sales reps have always been great, doing what they can to help support the business. The recent Partners-into-Plane program expansion will also really support our business, streamlining our fuel sales process."
