Campbell Oil Company: Lifetimes of Devotion

More than 80 years. That’s how long the Campbell family has been in Bladen County, North Carolina. One could say they’re leaving their mark, but they’re not leaving at all. The Campbell family, owners of 4C Holding LLC, which houses Campbell Oil Company, a Phillips 66® Aviation fuel distributor, has no plans to leave their 3,400-resident town, despite the success and growth of their organization.

Campbell Oil Company, a fourth-generation family business, was started in Elizabethtown, North Carolina in 1948. Originally started as an agricultural fuel supplier, today, the company operates four distinct business divisions: wholesale and commercial fuels, lubricants, convenience stores and food service.

Under the leadership of Fuel Products Division Manager Tracy Hardin and Aviation Fuels Manager Tori Martin, Campbell Oil has been growing the aviation division for the last several years. The company currently serves roughly 30 Phillips 66 branded customers in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, Tennessee and Alabama, and they’re looking to expand their geographic footprint.

“Tracy and Tori are executing our strategic plan for growing our aviation fuels business that we are passionate about,” said Brian Campbell, President of Campbell Oil. “Being a family of aviators, we’re blessed to work alongside such dedicated and devoted people that are committed to serving our customers and growing our aviation fuels business.”

Campbell Oil is a unique distributor in that they offer above ground and underground tank installations, and they also maintain their own aviation refuelers. The company plans to continue the growth on the service side to benefit their aviation customers with enhanced offerings.

In addition to the Campbells’ devotion to their business and customers, they’re loyal to the Bladen County community and have made it their mission to give back. Bladen We Care, a community-based nonprofit, was established by the Campbell family more than 30 years ago. The organization is dedicated to raising and distributing funds to help provide health care and other assistance for patients in need in Bladen County. The nonprofit has funded a broad range of needs, including medicine for those who can’t afford it, a new air conditioning unit for a cancer patient, and schoolbooks for young adults who wish to attend community college in Bladen County to study nursing. Bladen We Care has helped raise over $2.5 million to assist with needs in Bladen County. About 200 people a year are helped by the organization.

“We’ve realized why we’re here. By the grace of God, we’re fortunate that we’re able to give back to our community. And that is our purpose,” said Brian. “We look forward to several more generations operating this business and being able to serve Bladen County.”
