Redbird Simulators used in AOPA Award-Winning Flight Schools

Sims used in nearly half of the recently awarded schools

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Redbird Flight is pleased to announce that 31 flight schools that use Redbird flight simulators were recently awarded Flight Training Excellence Awards by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). Redbird Flight operates in conjunction with Redbird Skyport, a Phillips 66® Aviation branded FBO and flight laboratory servicing San Marcos Regional Airport (KHYI).

"Simulator technology offers tremendous benefits to both novice and seasoned pilots, helping to practice and enhance essential flight skills in a safe and secure environment," said John Koenreich, General Manager, Skyport FBO. "We’re proud that Redbird sims have been incorporated into some of the best flights schools in the country, and are helping the next generation of pilots earn their wings."

The awards are based on the results of AOPA's annual Flight Training Poll that measures the performance of flight training providers based on educational quality, customer focus, community and information sharing. This year, more than 11,000 individuals completed the poll which resulted in the review of nearly 800 flight schools. Almost half of the award-winning flight schools operate a Redbird simulator.
